UbiNetics and RF Micro devices announce working relationship for 3G wireless - 20 September 1999

UbiNetics, the technology venture of PA Consulting Group, and RF Micro Devices, a provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, today announced that they have reached a preliminary agreement to develop state of the art chipsets for future third generation (3G) wireless terminals.

UbiNetics and RF Micro Devices intend to develop jointly RF components for 3G wireless mobile terminals and share design and development knowledge in W-CDMA and GSM. Under their arrangement the parties have agreed to combine UbiNetics' expertise in 3G technology and in software and systems integration, together with RFMD's expertise in developing RF chipsets.

Ali Pourtaheri is president of UbiNetics. He has sixteen years broad experience in marketing, product management, product development and production for GSM and Dosimetry products, including six years with Ericsson. He has headed several strategic, product development departments, gaining an in-depth knowledge of customer needs and market development for GSM operators.
