Dr Clive Edmonds from PA Consulting Group, the leading international management, systems and technology consultancy, will explain the advantages that using PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) containers and filling technologies can give to manufacturers, retailers and consumers in his *paper at Schotland’s Nova-Pack Europe 2002 in Düsseldorf, on 26 September (*9.50am).
Clive, who heads the Consumer Products Group in PA’s Product and Process Engineering Practice, will explain the recent expansion in the functional foods and beverage markets in Japan, Europe and the US, and will predict future packaging development and demands on materials - especially PET.
The paper will examine how greater protection of bioactive ingredients (such as antioxidants, pro-biotic bacteria and other oxygen and light sensitive, physiologically beneficial ingredients) will be needed to meet future branding requirements and consumer demands for product visibility and convenience.
It will provide a good opportunity for marketeers, technical specialists in functional food and beverage companies, and packaging industry personnel to gain valuable insight to product differentiation in this increasingly sophisticated area of the FMCG market.
PA’s dedicated product and process engineering practice has a unique combination of industry expertise and engineering capability, delivering solutions from concept right through to launch. It develops award-winning products, automation and manufacturing processes at the Group’s International Technology Centre in Cambridge, and creates step-change innovation programmes resulting in reduced ‘time-to-market’. Its understanding of innovation can transform the contribution that technology makes to a business.
