Enabling pharmacists to check the authenticity of medicines
Changing legislation in Europe and the US has highlighted the need for pharmaceutical companies and pharmacists to have a reliable mechanism for checking the authenticity of medicines before they are dispensed to patients.
In 2005 PA venture company Aegate successfully tested a new solution , called ‘Authentication at the point of dispensing™’, that does precisely that - combatting illegal medicines and protecting patients from receiving substandard products.
‘Authentication at the point of dispensing™’ is a rapid-alert patient safety system that enables pharmacists to check in real time for recalled, expired, stolen, counterfeit or illegally imported medicines, without slowing up the dispensing process.
