There is no such thing as routine sourcing – arrangements should be continually reviewed against corporate strategy.
Monitor strategic alignment
Mid-term, if there are no complaints about your sourcing arrangements, it is tempting to leave them alone. But the board must keep checking that there is both alignment with overall strategy and continuous improvement. Stale deals can often be revitalised through regular health-checks and actions for change. Motivating partners to invest in supporting you is normally much cheaper than breaking the contract.
