PA Consulting Group has recently appointed Dr Ian Smith as a member of its management team, to focus on pharmaceutical and healthcare developments, within the Global Technology Group, based near Cambridge.
Dr Smith joins PA from Andaris Ltd where he was R&D Director responsible for the development of microparticulate drug and protein systems for application in pulmonary drug delivery and other routes of administration and targeting, and also in the development of particulate ultrasound contrast imaging agents. Previously he had held senior posts in Unilever Research and more recently Glaxo, where he held the positions of Head of Inhalation Technology, Pharmaceutical Technology and Respiratory Product Development. In these roles he was responsible for all aspects of Glaxo’s respiratory product developments for pressurised metered dose inhalers, dry powder inhalers and device developments, and manufacturing systems for inhaled and other dosage forms.
PA Consulting Group has helped many leading pharmaceutical companies with the development of drug delivery and other medical devices. Dr Smith’s experience in this area will greatly enhance PA’s existing capabilities and enable the company to further develop its capabilities in helping clients to get excellent and innovative products to market quickly.
