Monitoring patient compliance

As part of a post-launch surveillance programme, Glaxo Wellcome commissioned the construction of a substantial number of inhalers with built in computer data logging. These use microelectronics technology built inside metered dose and multidose dry powder inhalers which keep electronic records of inhaler use.

PA's role for Glaxo Wellcome during the product development process included: design of the modified inhalers; development of electronics and software; and support for Glaxo Wellcome during manufacture of the devices.
