Redesigning the bank’s development programme for high-performing staff
HSH Nordbank (formerly Hamburgische Landesbank), is a leading German federal state bank located in Hamburg. The bank needed to ensure it identified and developed top-performing members of its staff early in their career to both retain talent and ensure that its people have the skills required to operate in a competitive environment.
Although the bank had an existing people development centre in place, it focused on running a leadership programme that was perceived to be narrow and have little impact on management behaviour in the business. Therefore PA worked with the bank to redesign the development programme. This will enable the bank to offer wider career paths outside the traditional leadership area, equipping its managers with the range of skills required to be successful, and helping to retain key talent.
