PA won the 'Best Use of IT' category for our work with BP in exploiting Internet technologies to create BP Oyster - a new data warehouse system to share procurement information around the world. The system allows BP to pursue its commitment to devolved decision-making, while at the same time sharing knowledge and information to obtain the benefits of aggregating purchases throughout the organization. The system was delivered across Europe in just eight months, using flexible and innovative management to meet the demanding timescales. The project led to major cost savings and also encouraged BP staff to share information. BP estimates it saved $100 million a year on its $15 billion annual procurement spend.
