PA's work for National Health Service Scotland
IT Category - MCA Awards
Position: Winner
Year: 1999
PA's successful partnership with GPASS - part of the NHS in Scotland, providing primary health-care products to general practices - was winner of the 'Best Use of IT' category. PA, working in an innovative and effective public-private partnership with the GPASS unit, completely redeveloped the national GP computer system. GPs were becoming increasingly frustrated striving to meet government expectations with outdated and cumbersome tools to support their role in health-care delivery. New GPASS is user-friendly, flexible and feature-rich, enabling GPs to personalize the system to suit their needs. The GPASS unit now has cost-effective technology to extend and improve the quality of patient care, using a common platform for the development of community-based, GP-led health services.
