Telecommunications – Improving physical network inventory management capability

A large Network Operator that offers a wide range of communications services to homes and business customers across the UK evaluated their approach to managing physical network records. The results of this evaluation demonstrated that their network records and supporting information systems were out-dated and impacting business effectiveness. Recognizing that their ability to provide
quality service to customers was partly dependent upon their ability to leverage their deployed physical network infrastructure the client selected an ESRI-based Telecommunications application suite as their chosen platform for managing Physical Network Inventory (PNI).

In order to deploy the geographical information systems (GIS) application suite and decommission multiple legacy GIS systems, PA Consulting Group was engaged to support data modeling and detailed data migration planning for existing civils, fiber, RF and copper data.
