Interview with Gary Noon, Aegate’s new CEO

Aegate, a wholly owned subsidiary of PA Consulting Group, was set up in 2004 to address the problems of pharmaceutical fraud including counterfeit medicines and illegal diversion. Using unique serialisation of medicines through the application of RFID or barcodes, pharmacists are able to check the status of individual items of medicine at the point of dispensing. As part of the service Aegate will be supplying purpose built multi-technology scanning devices to pharmacists which enable them to carry out real time authentication and identify expired, recalled or illegal items before they are inadvertently dispensed to patients.
