The Olympics

The Olympics

London, UK, 2012

Djiboutian athlete Mohammed Asad Guleed created a stir taking gold and smashing the world record in the 10,000 meters final last week. He has since been portrayed by many as the face of the games.

Augmented reality transforms spectating

Some new technologies are developing that could transform the way in which we watch sport.

Touted as the next ‘must have’ for sports fans,EyeMedia is one of the technology success stories from the games. EyeMedia has been around since 2007, but early models required the user to carry a backpack full of equipment – not really practical. The technology has now become small enough for all the electronics to be in the glasses themselves. This makes them a little bulkier than normal glasses, but not enough to hinder movement. The glasses have been available for spectators to hire in gymnastics, judo, and football. Judging by the number of spectators seen donning a pair during the games, EyeMedia has certainly been popular.
